We are thrilled to announce the launch of the “Microscopy Farm” R&D project by openUC2, as part of our “get started 2gether” initiative. This pioneering venture is set to revolutionize the field of microscopic imaging by developing a massively parallelizable microscopy platform, in close collaboration with INNOVENT e.V. Technologieentwicklung Jena. This initiative is not just a leap towards advanced digital imaging but also promises to bring significant long-term value in diagnostics.

Based in Jena, the dynamic startup openUC2 GmbH is bringing its specialized expertise in the development of modular optical systems to the table, particularly in the realm of microscopy. For more fascinating insights about openUC2 and their innovative projects, feel free to visit this website at openUC2.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Eastern Thuringia (IHK) highlighted this collaboration in their latest online magazine “Ostthüringer Wirtschaft,” showcasing the power of innovation. An article within the magazine discusses how the partnership between INNOVENT e.V. and various tech startups in Thuringia has led to a string of successful innovations over the past five years. You can read more about these exciting developments here.

Together, we are developing a fully motorized and automated microscope designed for use with robots in high-throughput applications. INNOVENT’s contribution is crucial, helping us transition the mechanical geometries into production.

Furthermore, by merging the strengths and resources of openUC2 and Seeed Studio, we anticipate even greater collaboration. This partnership aims to bring the open-source microscopy, based on XIAO technology, to a broad community of enthusiasts, students, educators, and researchers, enabling them to delve into the wonders of the microscopic world.

Lastly, following his engaging pitch at the gs2g competition on March 21, 2024, at the ComCenter in LEG Erfurt, Dr. René Lachmann, founder and CEO of openUC2, presented the “Microscopy Farm” project to Dr. Uwe Möhring, the deputy director of INNOVENT e.V.

About INNOVENT e.V.

For the past 30 years, the nonprofit industrial research organization INNOVENT e.V. has been at the forefront of analysis, research, and development in surface technology, magnetic and optical systems, biomaterials, primers, and chemical surface treatments. As a founding member of the ZUSE community, the institute, based in Jena with a team of 140 employees, plays a crucial role in delivering the spark of science to the industry.

As we look towards the future, these collaborative efforts not only signify growth but also the promise of innovation that can transform the landscape of microscopy and diagnostics. Join us in this exciting journey as we explore the potential of these groundbreaking technologies.
